President, Office Manager, and Director of Planning
Karen Rogers joined M2L in 1998 to support the firm’s growing land planning practice. Karen is a licensed landscape architect and land planner and currently serves as M2L’s President and Director of Planning. Since graduation from Texas A&M in 1981, she has developed a passion and commitment to community design with experience in park planning, land use planning, plan processing, commercial, residential and institutional landscape architecture projects in Texas, and in California.
She is the company liaison for regulatory compliance regarding both planning and landscape architecture projects in dealing with governmental agencies such as City of Houston, Harris County, TxDOT, other state and local counties, municipalities and federal agencies. Karen is leading M2L’s efforts in sustainable and low impact design and oversees the firm’s certification design coordination and is also a LEED accredited professional. Her experience in both design and project management of multi-use land projects has provided her with the capability of handling complex multidisciplinary projects.
Ms. Rogers is a Landscape Architect and Land Planner with greater than 30 years of experience in park planning, land use planning, plan processing, commercial, residential and institutional landscape architecture projects in Texas, and California. She is the company liaison for regulatory compliance regarding both planning and landscape architecture projects dealing with governmental agencies such as Texas Parks and Wildlife, TxDOT, other state and local counties, municipalities and federal agencies. Ms. Rogers is leading M2L’s efforts in sustainable design and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Her experience in both design and project management of multi-use land projects has provided her with the capability of handling complex multidisciplinary projects. Ms. Rogers has gained invaluable management and community facilitation skills working on projects in Houston, Mont Belvieu, Orange, Alvin, Missouri City, and Rosenberg. Ms. Rogers served as Project Lead for City of Sugar Land Parks Needs Assessment and City of Alvin Parks Master Plan utilizing her extensive project management experience in design, construction documentation, and field observation
Ms. Rogers serves as M2L’s president, office manager, and director of planning.
Michael Mauer is a co-founder of M2L Associates that began in 1994 and has spent his entire professional career helping create, maintain, and improve communities throughout the country. Michael is a true steward of the land and holds arborist and green roof professional certifications to go along with his expertise in landscape architecture, urban design, and land planning. He brings a multi-disciplinary approach to the protection of the environment and collaborates with other design professionals regularly providing tree preservation strategies for parks, transit, infrastructure, and site development projects. His is also board member for Trees for Houston, a local non-profit organization whose mission is to plant, protect, and promote trees throughout the greater Houston area.
A graduate of The Ohio State University in 1985, Michael provides hands-on leadership for the firm which celebrated its 20th year in business in 2014. In his work, ranging from community planning, parks, resorts, urban design, and urban forestry projects, he has focused on the needs of the client and a dedication to creating unique landscape design approaches that fit the context of a community.
Michael has led the firm’s long standing engagement with the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department since 2002 for which the firm has led multiple teams of architects and engineers in the design of over 85 park facilities with a combined public commitment of over $65,000,000. In addition, Michael led the firms urban design efforts for the revitalization of the City of Houston’s historic Main Street that included the design of Houston’s first light rail line and creation of Main Street Square in the heart of the downtown business district.
Ms. Hung joined M2L after receiving her Master degree in landscape architecture. Prior to her graduate study, she worked as landscape and planning designer for a well-known landscape architecture firm in Taiwan and was exposed to a wide range of projects. Ms. Hung has managed many of M2L’s large scale projects including the Third Ward to Main Street Connectivity Project, Houston Parks to Standards (85 City parks, with a $65,000,000 construction budget), and the OST/Griggs Road ROW projects. Ms. Hung is M2L’s assistant design director. She has significant experience with projects for various local and state projects including current clients such as the Cities of Houston, Freeport, Galveston, and Houston METRO, and TxDOT.

Lynn Mauer joined M2L in 1997 after 12 years in public accounting in the audit department of Deloitte & Touche, a ‘Big 8’ accounting firm. Since her arrival at the firm, Lynn quickly moved beyond just her accounting tasks to expanding her role to handling the firm’s day to day business operations and management. She was promoted to principal in 2009 and is M2L’s Chief Financial Officer and Human Relations Manager.
Lynn is a graduate of The Ohio State University and is a certified public accountant in Texas.
